Greg, I’m familiar with John McGrath’s channel 37! I’ve seen the great man speak at a number of different events and find this technique of his to be spot on.

I’m finding it particularly relevant right now as my assistant has just gone on maternity leave and her replacement isn’t able to start for another few weeks, so I’ve spent the last fortnight running around like a mad man and getting home with a head full of “did I do that right” and “did I remember to call that landlord”! As long as I switch on the Comedy channel when I pull up in the driveway I’m ok. It’s a testament to my assistant though – she has obviously kept me sane for the last 12 months!

I’m excited by the GenYre page and am really looking forward to seeing what the other contributors have to say, as well as throwing in more of my ideas for you all to read!

I totally agree with you about the importance of being able to switch on & switch off.

I remember John McGrath saying once that he used to mentally switch on to his daily work routine the moment he turned the tap on to have a shower in the morning & then he would switch off when he turned the key off in the ignition of his car when he got home.

He used to call it tuning into Channel 37 (which was a business channel at the time) & just like when you hit the button on the remote to change channels he would imagine that he had changed his thoughts from the business channel to the home & recreation channel.
